Yes, theme usage is judged and is used to select winners.
You are free to interpret DREAMS in your own way. However, below are some definitions to help guide your way in creating your film.
Dream (n):
(1) visionary creation of the imagination
(2) a strongly desired goal or purpose
(3) something that fully satisfies a wish
(4) a state of mind marked by abstraction or release from reality
(5) a series of thoughts, images, or emotions occurring during sleep
(6) an experience of walking life having the characteristics of a dream
Films are judged in three categories: theme, cinematography, and editing. Below are the specific items that will be judged in each category.
Theme usage: originality, compelling ideas & concepts, quality of script and plot, and effectiveness of theme being communicated to audience.
Cinematography: visually stunning, camera movement & shot selection, framing of scene (zoom, focus, color, exposure & filtration), and lighting usage.
Film Editing: sound editing and mixing, computer generated effects, selection of shots that help tell your story, and transition between shots.

You may submit your film either via email to filmitwcsubmission@gmail.com or on our website! If you choose email, be sure to submit the application and the film in the same email. Be sure to have name of film and director on the email subject line.
Films are selected based on judges' scores. Top films will be screened at the Film Festival. Films selected to be screened qualify for cash and prizes. Films will be notified if they have been selected to be screened.
